Job Description:

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. Experience working in a financial aid office or have other relevant experience. Comfortable speaking before groups of students and parents. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:  2-5 years of financial aid experience. Prior professional work experience in a financial aid office. Prior experience using Ellucian Banner. Prior experience using Campus Logic Products. Experience working with private loan programs. Experience counseling students and families as it pertains to financial aid. Experience using a recognized student information system to process federal, state, and private aid such as COD, NSLDS, PHEAA, ELMOne, etc. Bi-lingual.

Annual Salary: $51,306.00 plus comprehensive benefits starting on the first day of employment.

Position Duties: 

  • Stay abreast of guidelines and update policies and procedures, for programs they are overseeing, in accordance with Department of Education guidelines to ensure compliance is maintained. Review program practices regularly to ensure compliance with current regulatory requirements.
  • Manage, certify, and reconcile all aspects of the Private/ Alternative Loan Program. Including but not limited to:
    • Ensuring students meet all eligibility requirements as defined by the lender(s).
    • Calculating student eligibility based on the cost of attendance, budget for the loan period, enrollment, and other financial aid awarded.
    • Meeting with lender representatives to stay up to date on borrowing trends for Millersville’s student population.
    • Yearly updates to Millersville’s ELMSelect profile for alternative loan products.
  • Manage all aspects of the federal verification process including reviewing, updating, and correcting data as needed. This includes but it not limited to:
    • Tax/income/asset data, household size, clarification of dependency, change in marital status, resolving conflicting information, Unusual Enrollment History (UEH), Statement of Educational Purpose, reviewing & updating new ISIR transactions
  • Utilize professional judgment and documentation provided to complete reviews for Special and/or Unusual Circumstance requests to evaluate if the federal need calculation on the FAFSA can be adjusted. If applicable update the appropriate FAFSA data elements, send corrections, and adjust financial aid as necessary.
  • Counseling & Financial Aid Planning.
    • Meet with prospective students and families in person, virtually, or by phone on a regular basis to assist with financial planning and discuss financial aid eligibility, applications, and requirements.
  • Maintain documentation of all procedures used to carry out responsibilities within the Office of Financial Aid. Maintain statistical information on program(s) for the purpose of reporting, projection, and planning purposes.
  • Attend appropriate training seminars and conferences sponsored by state, regional, and national professional associations, and agencies.
  • Present and provide staff support for open houses, orientation, staff meetings, and other informational programs on campus.
  • Contact representatives from various campus and external offices and agencies, when appropriate, for completion of necessary information for financial aid applications. This may include, but is not limited to university departments and staff, the Department of Education, Federal Student Aid (FSA), PHEAA (Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency), and Private Loan Lenders.
  • Stay abreast of current financial aid regulations and policies by accessing literature, electronic databases, list serves, and other informational resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Assistant Director of Financial Aid.
