Walnut Hill College was founded in 1974 as The Restaurant School; the country’s first private college to focus on fine dining and luxury hospitality careers. Walnut Hill College is considered an industry leader for nearly 48 years; with many unique features. There are four on-site restaurants, a pastry shop, and on-site dorms. The tuition includes two international travel experiences.

Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Management, this position supports our applicants, students, and families in understanding the college, the financial aid process, scholarships and grants, and financing options available to them. Financial Aid Advisors will work collaboratively within a team devoted to superior student service, financial literacy, and the mission of the College.

Ideal candidates for this position will be knowledgeable about financial aid in higher education, technically skilled, personable, and professional. The position requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, timeliness and accuracy.

Qualification:

Primary Position Responsibilities: • Meet with students (applicants and current students) and families to assess needs relating to financial aid while addressing questions and concerns advise them of options and implications of decisions • Responsible for awarding all aspects of federal, state, and institutional financial aid and maintaining current knowledge of all Title IV regulations • Verifies student awards and processes financial aid for students • Assist students in the notification and completion of missing financial aid requirements and aid acceptance • Assists in the processing of federal and educational loan applications • Administers Pennsylvania State Grant and Special programs • Remains knowledgeable of current federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations • Maintains highly sensitive, confidential, accurate, academic and financial information on all student records in accordance with directives from FERPA guidelines • Supports college events as needed, including Saturday Walnut Hill College Experiences Knowledge and Skills: • Upbeat and personable with excellent guest relations and listening skills • Ability to educate students and families on their financial and registration records inquiries • Ability to utilize resources effectively to troubleshoot and resolve potential issues • Demonstrated experience delivering accurate and courteous service in a fast-paced and demanding environment • Team player who is flexible and collaborative • Ability to work within the scope of Title IV, FERPA, and accreditation regulations • Knowledge of PA State Grant programs • Experience in financial aid with the Department of Veterans Affairs
