Financial Aid Analyst

The Financial Aid Office supports the recruitment, retention, and student success efforts of the University’s diverse undergraduate and graduate student population by helping students and their influencers seek, obtain, and make the best use of all financial resources.
Working under the direction from the Assistant Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Analyst certifies Federal PLUS, Graduate PLUS, and Private Loans and communicates directly with lenders and the Department of Education to resolve issues with loan certifications. This position also assists in assigning federal borrowers with exit counseling for those students who withdraw, complete the program, or drop below part-time status and assists with posting scholarships and support repackaging efforts as needed.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service skills; the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment ; the ability to communicate effectively across a diverse population; and experience working in a financial aid office and using student information systems (People Soft/ Ellucian).
Responsibilities include:
Certify Federal PLUS, Graduate PLUS and private loans using proscribed procedures
Assist with the ELM automation loan processing
Assist with posting exit counseling for federal student borrowers
Obtain and maintain functional understanding of the Student Information System, ELM, COD, and NSLDS
Assist with posting scholarships
Package and repackage student files as needed
Obtain and maintain an understanding of financial aid policies, procedures, eligibility requirements and policies concerning the provision of financial aid to students
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications One year as a Data Analyst 1 or Three years of progressively responsible experience in the review, analysis, and control of computer processed data. Appropriate post high school education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
